Loops, double loops, tornado and fun slides … awaiting …your food !
When it comes to entertainment and food, Abu Dhabi ranks high with so many innovative concepts that have popped up in the Capital over the last 5 years, especially on Yas Island with projects such as Yas Waterworld or Ferrari World.
So, when we decided to visit the latest ROGO’S restaurant that opened late November 2014 in Yas Mall, we had no preconceived idea of what was awaiting us.
We first sat at our table equipped with one of the 30 roller coasters this restaurant proposes, got a number dedicated to our seat and it wasn’t long before we finally understood why all customers around us looked so enthusiastic and excited.
This concept is 100% fun, innovative and incredible !! It’s so good to feel like a child, impressed by technology and a fun concept. Let’s get in more details…
A completely tech-run restaurant
Can you imagine that this restaurant, which is the largest roller coaster restaurant in the world required 2 years of R&D(research and development) to imagine, draw and make this technological entertainment spot a reality?
Displayed on two floors, there are 367 seats, each connected to a tablet computer as each customer has to order from the tablet.
A trained staff with twisted missions
Before you embark on your journey, your waiter -who of course doesn’t deliver the food as the roller coaster takes care of it- has a customer service role, explaining in detail how the whole process works, from the order to the tracks to watch so that you don’t miss your food’s ride and make sure your experience will be memorable.
Many chefs work in the kitchen and as soon as the food is prepared and packed in closed pots another part of the team puts belts on the pots and dispatches your order on one of the 30 tracks.
What about the food?
We were surprised to discover such an extensive menu with many starters, mocktails, pasta and burgers. For our first visit, we opted for passionfruit ice tea and lemon and mint, enjoyed the Tornado burger with a thick and juicy steak but were less convinced with the lobster burger. The toffee date pudding was nice and spongy and the nutella profiteroles recently added on the menu will certainly be a hit amongst the little ones.
The overall experience was very positive and this is definitely a must visit with the whole family in Abu Dhabi.
Oh, and one more last fact: it’s the only restaurant we know that doesn’t have printed games and crayons on the table in order to keep kids entertained and busy. They just have to keep their eyes wide open…
