A little taste of Sicily in Abu Dhabi

Next time you are looking for an authentic Italian expresso – Barbera coffee for the connoisseurs-just head to Siciliano coffee.

To be honest, we had passed this new cafe a few times without paying too much attention until we were told by an Italian friend that it was a must visit.

There we go, we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t regret it all.

At the front side of Siliciano, there are a few tables but we preferred the high chairs at the bar counter that face a very colorful wall made of white and blue ceramic tiles. If you are not familiar with Italian delicacies and have a sweet tooth, there are freshly-made desserts to try including nougat, marzipan fruit, cannoli or cassate treats.

First, fresh cannolos are available daily either in regular or miniature sizes. These are typical Silician desserts made with a biscuit shell coated with chocolate inside and filled with a riccota cream. We opted for the small bite in order to also try a cassate. These are not prepared here but delivered straight to Abu Dhabi and there are different appetizing flavors to enjoy including lemon, orange, chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts and more. It was our first time tasting an almond cassata and we loved this small but sweet bite.

They also have marzipan fruits that you can enjoy at the cafe (12 AED per piece) or grab for take away (sold by weight).

If you are more into gelato, then you have to check their counter on the side of the cafe. Siciliano cafe makes their own gelato
every day and they have some amazing flavors we are keen on tasting, including Ricotta cheese walnuts and honey, Cassata Siciliana, Mandarin Sicily, mint and milk and many more. We cannot wait to plan another visit soon.
