Anantara Eastern Mangroves hosts themed dining nights throughout the week at Ingredients, their buffet style restaurant (located on the right side when you enter the hotel).
We were invited to pick one of their themed nights and share our experience. Always curious about world cuisine, we decided to join World of Ingredients, occurring every Wednesday night, between 7 pm and 11 pm.
The idea is to highlight the cuisine of seven different countries and the night we visited, it was all about Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Italian, Emirati, and Mexican cuisines.
The wide buffet is arranged throughout the whole restaurant with different stations at the entrance featuring carved fruits and nicely arranged vegetables showcasing the Thai and Indonesian stations.
We definitely enjoyed picking some bites at the Thai station featuring fresh papaya salad, thick green chicken curry and comforting Pad Thai. The Japanese station was not only about sushi and maki but had an interesting do-it-yourself ramen station, where guests are encouraged to prepare their own bowl, combining the broth with different noodles, eggs, beef slices, vegetables and more. Something playful and different from the usual buffets we have visited so far.
The Emirati station gives guests the opportunity to taste some traditional dishes we only usually try during Ramadan such as Majboush, Lamb Harees or Fish Salona. We recommend trying the lobster flauta, a Mexican dish we indulged in: the lobster is grilled with pico de gallo and mixed with a cheese blend-it comes wrapped inside a flour tortilla and served with chipotle ranch dressing.
Apart from these specific cuisines from seven countries, the buffet also features a salad bar, a cheese station, a gelato corner and various individual desserts. For the desserts, we skipped the usual ones and opted for Arabic sweets such as pancakes, luqaimats and more. Our preferred one was a unique individual cake filled with banana puree that was delicious.
You can pick a table indoors and enjoy the live music at the restaurant or opt for dining outdoors facing the mangroves and the Reem Island skyline in the background.
This buffet is priced at AED 249 per person with soft beverages and AED 349 with house beverages.
