With a New Year comes New Year’s resolutions; from eating better to being more active. We have found a way to kick start the new you in the form of flax seeds. Often called the ‘miracle food’ for its nutritional value, it also provides heart-healthy benefits as well as your daily dose of dietary fibre and Omega 3 fatty acids. 

After months of hunting for flax seeds in Abu Dhabi, we finally found a treasure trove of health at Safa Supermarket at Garden Plaza. 

After careful consideration we opted for the milled flax seed with blueberries (33 AED) which is a perfect blend for any breakfast. Two spoonful’s gives texture to your smoothies, adds a twist to boring plain yoghurts, and works perfectly in homemade muffins, breads or pancakes.

Blueberry Yoghurt Parfait

¾ cup plain yoghurt

2 tbsp. milled roasted flax seed with blueberries

2 tbsp. fresh blueberries

 

  • Place half the yoghurt in a tall glass

  • Sprinkle with 1 tbsp. milled roasted flax seed with blueberries

  • Add 1 tbsp. fresh blueberries

  • Repeat layers and top with fresh blueberries

  • Serve immediately
