Emirati Tradition and Culture infused in new generation of desserts

Camel milk is already available in many grocery stores across the Capital, and now we have also discovered desserts made with this local ingredient. Check out the places below where you can find camel milk-based desserts.

Camel Cookies

We discovered a store called Camel Cookies located in the Khalidiya district that was launched a few years ago. There are currently more than eight flavors available mixing either traditional flavors such as cardamon and saffron or more international tastes with Kinder and Nutella. As you can only purchase camel cookies by the box and not per unit, we ordered half a dozen that included, Signature with Kinder chocolate, Chocolate truffle with walnuts and chocolate crisps, Red Velvet filled with white chocolate, Nutella with arabic Coffee, Lotus Cream with caramel , Original with galaxy chocolate) and priced at 65 AED.

You can also select your own cookie flavors and create your bespoke 12 piece box for 85 AED. The shop interior has a great street art graffiti covering an entire wall. It seems to already have a few regulars as there were three customers waiting to collect their box ordered in the morning when we went in.

What we can definitely say after experiencing the camel milk cookies is that they were very soft with a distinct taste. We liked the Red Velvet and the chocolate truffle cookie and were surprised by the strong cardamon taste in the Nutella & Arabic coffee cookie. Worth trying once at least to make your own opinion!

Camel Cookies also proposes delivery options with fees that vary upon the number of boxes ordered and your location.

Camelait

If you are a regular Spinneys customers, check their individual ice cream corner in the new supermarket close in Al Forsan Village as we found a new ice cream brand called Camelait produced in the UAE by Al Ain Dairy firm.
Albeit pricey (11 AED per 125 ml indidividual ice cream), the Saffron Ice Cream is worth a try and so are the cardamon and caramel ice creams. Al Ain Dairy which sells these ice creams also produces additional flavors such as chocolate, vanilla and date ice creams with camel milk.
