This Friday Fun Day is Made for the Kid at Heart

They’ve made the bold move to gear this brunch more towards adults, which explains the shooter you receive upon arrival… and the countless themed drink stations peppered around the bright and sunny space. There is a Caribbean drinks station, among others, and even a pop-up mixology bar at the back of the venue where foosball, beer pong and giant Jenga are all arranged for giggles.

Reluctantly averting our eyes, we got down to the food first.

It’s a pretty great thing when a salad bar is actually worth coming back to. Forget Niçoise and Caesar. Among many creative mixes, we had huge helpings of the sweet potato and quinoa varieties.

There’s almost too much to choose from. Almost. From winning cuts of Irish Kettyle beef brought in from the hotel’s JW Steakhouse, and Kuzbara’s offering of grilled-in-front-of-you meat and seafood, to oysters, and the wings, burgers and lobster provided by Velocity bar. There are sushi and chat counters, a homemade pancake station, as well as Central Grounds’ milkshake stand, serving up intimidatingly moreish creations (there are cute mini versions too, don’t worry).

Alongside a cracking DJ, a very cheeky magician and a caricature artist roam the venue looking for subjects, and of course we could not resist. We walked away with something to frame. Who can say that after brunch?
