Are you in search of a good steak? Give The Grill at Marriott Al Forsan a try!
We hadn’t yet got a chance to go check out the restaurant THE GRILL at Marriott Al Forsan since its revamp mid-2019. Invited to the multi-sensorial pods located at the hotel lobby (all details at the bottom of the article) for its last day in Abu Dhabi, our sensorial experience was followed by a dinner invitation at The Grill, located at the ground floor.
The decor is quite masculine with dark wooden furniture, burgundy paint on the high walls and with black and white photographs of highland cows and bulls inside the restaurant.
We started our Thursday night dinner sharing a freshly baked homemade bread – great taste and crust as the chef’s secret recipe is all about giving the bread a fluffy texture. The restaurant manager suggested we try some signature dishes and we browsed the menu to pick our dishes.
The Burratina & Baby Rucolla (75AED) we ordered came with different varieties of tomatoes ranging from green, yellow to dark red color, along with some watermelon chunks that paired well with the tomatoes. We really enjoyed the basil pesto vinaigrette which was a great combination with the burratina. It was topped with basil seeds, our first time trying these seeds that look very much like chia seeds.
The menu boasts signature meats from Australia, the US, and Argentina (our pick). While our partner ordered rib-eye from Argentina (210 AED), we decided to experience the ladies cut tenderloin (199AED) which is less fatty and was an absolute winner at the table. There were at least six different sauces on the menu and we picked the black pepper jam (another first that we really enjoyed) along with truffle butter.
The menu includes a large variety of affordable sides (priced at 25 AED each) and we picked the Spinach Rockefeller that was very creamy and tasty; so was the Paris mash. These two sides were enough to share for two.
Overall, we had a great experience at The Grill and by 8 pm, the restaurant started getting busy with groups of men and even families coming to enjoy a refined Thursday night dinner to start off their weekend.
A few words about The Let Your Mind Travel experience
This activation installed until the end of February 2020 at Marriott Al Forsan was part of Marriott Hotel’s latest campaign – Let Your Mind Travel – that is designed to take visitors senses on a multi-sensorial journey – visual, sound and scents.
Visitors are invited to enter a pod where they can watch and experience sights from five different countries (a country in each pod), sounds and scents. Every destination is brought to life with its own scent (salt from the Dead Sea for Jordan, spices for India, florals for Osaka and coconut for Hawaii).
