Looking for a lunch pause at Yas Mall? We tried Giraffe in Abu Dhabi…
For those who have already strode along Yas mall, you probably have noticed how huge it is and important to allow yourself regular breaks in order to endure the shopping experience.
One nice thing though is that wherever you are, you always find our way to Town Square at some point, the light and airy atrium that is a converging spot.
During our last visit, we allowed ourselves a casual lunch at Giraffe which is located in this atrium next to Le Pain Quotidien.
Though we like the African style interior restaurant decoration, especially the colorful wire giraffes, exotic plants and wire curtains, we finally opted for the tables located in the atrium.
A good pick as you feel almost outdoors thanks to the light coming from the ceiling, and the oversized atrium totally make you forget you are inside a mall.
A well-known and popular restaurant and café in the UK, this is the first Giraffe outlet that opened in Abu Dhabi and is a refreshing change to the usual food court booths.
What we liked is their all-day menu and a variety of dishes to choose from. Mexican, Asian, American, German, so you will be sure to find something suited to your taste. The added bonus is that menu stipulates your order can be ready within 15 minutes if you mention you’re in a hurry.
We picked a Tunisian salad (55 AED) that was fresh and tasty with marinated feta, roasted squash and cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, sweet onion and cumin, quinoa but still lacking a proper seasoning. Tasting a falafel burger (56 AED) was a first and nice treat as the falafel were crunchy and not too dry. The cherry on the top though would have been to get a tahini sauce on the side.
An unpretentious lunch stop that won’t break the bank and offers a calm and rejuvenating environment, which is usually just the ultimate luxury you may be looking for during a hectic day of shopping.
