Gather with family and friends during the Holy Month of Ramadan at SIM SIM
Saadiyat Rotana opened its doors to visitors earlier in 2018, and we have all been eager to visit this impressive new resort at Saadiyat Island. If you are looking for a spot to book Iftar this Holy Month, you can book Iftar there as it is a good excuse to visit this property.
The Iftar served at Sim Sim – their all-day dining restaurant – proposes a large buffet filled with a variety of counters filled with Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Asian and Indian dishes, along with a juice bar.
While our partner in crime started off his Iftar with a filling oriental lentil soup served with lemon and croutons, we first made a stop at the salad counter that has many appealing healthy options, including roast beef, artichoke and caper salad, eggplant and marinated mozzarella salad, curry chicken salad with mango and lime dressing and watermelon, feta and rocca salad to name just a few…
Moving to the main courses, we noticed a large selection of dishes with an Indian and Arabic flair. A unique occasion to experience dishes some wouldn’t dare to order at a restaurant if they are not familiar with this cuisine such as Faouarg Lamb, vine leaves and baby marrow, Basha and Assakro, Hares Chicken, lamb Ouzi, red snapper and many more…
We went for their seafood bouillabaisse and vegetable lasagna that were both colorful and flavorful.
Leave room for dessert as the Arabic sweets and dessert counters will have you back for more! If you are into Arabic sweets, you will be in awe as there are so many to try. The guests seemed quite attracted to this counter and it is definitely a highlight at the Iftar.
The pastry team at Sim Sim came up with interesting desserts with a twist. We highly recommend you get tasters of the matcha creme brulée with black sesame, date syrup fountain – instead of the chocolate fountain, nougatine tiramisu and eclair coffee nut caramel.
One last piece of advice! To make the most of your evening, come early to have time to enjoy the sunset at the gorgeous hotel lobby overlooking the pools, gardens and the beach. The large open lobby is worth checking out, especially as the lobby floor showcases artworks with sand from the seven Emirates of the UAE enclosed under large glass tiles. A brilliant idea that bridges architecture, local heritage and culture.
The Iftar also has an Arabic feel with traditional tunes in the background by an oud player, a tent that kids are invited to visit to enjoy activities introducing them to the local culture while adults break their fast. Sim Sim restaurant also welcomes an Arabic souq that displays art and craft products from Al Ghadeer UAE, a comprehensive organization in the UAE that empowers underprivileged women through sustainable crafts.
This Iftar is available daily from sunset until 10 pm and is priced at 209 AED per person (104 AED for children aged between 6 and 12 years old).
