You shouldn’t miss this Taste of Hakkasan menu valid all summer long
All fine dining lovers who have visited the popular Hakkasan restaurant located inside Emirates Palace are always looking for an opportunity to go back. We are no exception to the rule and when Hakkasan Abu Dhabi introduced the new Taste of Hakkasan menu, we were eager to try it out.
The idea? During the hot summer months, guests are invited to sample a selection of inspiring and innovative signature Hakkasan dishes from the a-la-carte menu. This unique concept is not only exciting for our palate but also super attractive for our wallet as the 4-course menu is priced at 165++AED only when you come and experience the dinner from 6pm to 7.30pm.
During Ramadan, this offer is on and guests can enjoy it after sunset and are first served dates and dry apricots with a glass of laban to break the fast.
Let’s get into more details! After breaking the fast, you are brought the mocktail or cocktail of your choice from the Taste of Hakkasan menu. Our Eden mocktail was a pleasure for the eyes, prepared with lychee, rose syrup, black grape juice, soda water and a charming detail, an orchid flower dropped inside.
The 4-course menu starts with a soup and we picked the hot and sour chicken soup prepared with thinly sliced bamboo shoot, cloud ear and trumpet royal mushrooms and chicken. We loved the mix of textures and the sour side surprised us with hints of tabasco and white vinegar. We also enjoyed a totally different soup prepared with sweetcorn and crab meat that was savory thanks to the homemade stock flavored with duck, chicken, carrots and ginger.
We went on to the starters and shared two signature dishes. First, the Chef’s selection steamed dim sum came in a trio served in the traditional bamboo steamer basket: one was prepared with shrimp, the second was a mix of prawns and chives and the last one was original and tasty, made with different veggies, including pumpkin. We also tasted the signature crispy duck roll served with a homemade plum sauce and it is definitely worth trying.
For the main course, we followed our attentive and passionate waiter’s suggestions and it did not disappoint. Usually not tofu fans, we must admit we were amazed with our vegetarian tofu and aubergines claypot in black bean sauce. The tofu literally melted in our mouth and the sauce was just incredible.
We also shared the stir-fry kung po roasted duck prepared with dried chili and cashew nut. Be careful as the chili adds some taste but can be tricky if you inadvertently eat one.
To end the meal, if you are looking for a light dessert, go for the homemade sorbets and ice creams. They come in three scoops and the flavors change daily. We loved them all : ginger and lime, strawberry and apricot. Intrigued by the chocolate fondant served with a banana ice cream, we discovered the fondant had a hint of banana as the Chef added some in puree form and the association definitely works.
This is a must-go to option this summer that we frankly adored, especially for a romantic dinner or with a few friends to enjoy a gourmet experience. We are fans of the intimate decor with booths that give a private atmosphere though you still feel it’s lively with a light brouhaha of conversations.
The Taste of Hakkasan menu is priced at 165 AED++ per person , based on two guests per table minimum, not including service charges and taxes.
