A big and much deserved shoutout to this business lunch option at Asia de Cuba in Abu Dhabi

Our first visit to Asia de Cuba after their opening in December 2014 had left us very enthustiastic and willing to come back for more. So, when we received an invitation to taste their new Business Lunch option, we didn’t take long to make a booking.

And OMG, we must say that the menu beat all our exceptations and is certainly the best price-quality ratio we have ever experienced in town so far.

What surprises us first is that although it usually takes time before a new spot succeeds in bringing together all the key ingredients that make the difference, this restaurant already ticks all the boxes: creativity in the plate and for the palate, great decor and atmosphere, efficent, pleasant and attentive staff, and most importantly delicious food!

Let’s get in detail about why this three-course business lunch menu priced at 110 AED really got our vote.We first tried the crispy calamari salad that was served with a tasty dressing.  The addition of banana slices and fresh hearts of palm surprinsingly works well and is a nice tip to remember.
We then went for the Rocoto Miso Glazed Black Cod that was slow-cooked with vegetable escabeche infusing their flavors and it was served upon an avocado pablano puree. Just fab!

Our best surprise came from the vegetarian dish we ordered : seared mushrooms. First, this dish was a pure delight for the eyes, looking like a 3D sculpture with plenty of colors exploding and we got the same sensation after tasting the dish.

The bottom was composed of 3 types of mushrooms – shiitake, oyster and button – mixed with a miso sauce; some edamame mashed with soy bean, ginger, chichichumi and pepper came above and were served in a ‘quenelle’ shape, all topped with crispy onions.

For our desserts, we went for the thai coconut and lemongrass flan and also tried the guava whipped cheesecake coconut crumble.Looking like a fancy mille-feuille, the coconut biscuit was very very light and flavored with coconut powder. The hidden guava pieces paired well with the cheesecake cream.

To conclude, if you need one advice, don’t miss that business lunch as it is a superb opportunity to discover the Asian-Cuban style of cuisine this restaurant proposes.

And don’t forget to book to avoid any disppointment as it looks like the restaurant has its regulars.
