Looking for a blend of Asian and Western cuisine?

Wondering where Abu Dhabi residents are on a Monday night? We have the answer: Teatro restaurant at Park Rotana.

Visiting this spot for the first time, on a Monday night, we were surprised to see the restaurant was fully packed. Guys catching up after work, a large group of ladies sharing sushi, large tables filled with families and friends having fun, couples enjoying a romantic evening, it was very uplifting to see such a vibrant atmosphere on a weeknight in Abu Dhabi.

If you are not familiar with Teatro – it is old classic and is often referred to as a ‘fusion’ concept as it mixes both Western and Eastern cuisines.
Invited by Park Rotana to experience the spot, we initially overwhelmed while browsing the menu as it features many different cuisines, from Italian pizzas, to meat dishes, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Malaysian or Japanese specialties.

If you have any doubt, don’t hesitate to get advice from the Teatro team who is very knowledgeable and they helped us pick some signature dishes to sample.

We started with a selection of Maki and tuna and salmon sashimi. Prepared in front of us at the open Sushi bar, we loved the spicy mayonnaise our shrimp tempura maki were topped with. Ask for the Volcano roll if you are a maki lover – one of the Chef’s secret signature that is not on the menu. We enjoyed the crispy crust as the nori is slightly fried and generously filled with salmon and topped with orange tobiko and crab stick.

For our mains, we went for both Western and Eastern cuisine ordering The Surf & Turf Teatro and Buddha’s delight.

Served on a bed of mashed potatoes the beef fillet was just fabulous and served with a grilled lobster tail which was perhaps too peppery for our tastebuds.

Our Buddha wok (we asked for mild) was flavorful and prepared with udon noodles and stir-fried shrimps, mussels and calamari.

Their dessert selection is also large. Their chocolate fondant was a great pick to share and was served chocolate coulis and vanilla ice cream.

The drinks menu offers plenty of mocktails and cocktails to choose from. Intrigued by a cocktail for two that is one of their bestsellers, it was actually very refreshing thanks to the ginger, grapefruit and lemon and we loved that it was served inside rustic metal tin that is usually used during camping trips.

Teatro is definitely worth discovering in Abu Dhabi with its extensive cuisine options that are sophisticated and delicious.
