Detox and Brunch, two words that usually don’t pair together… but what they did rocks!

With that profusion of brunches on the market in Abu Dhabi, we had been secretly hoping that a detox brunch concept would soon arrive in the Capital and it’s finally with no surprise that Nolu’s was the first to do it!

Nolu’s downtown proposes a Dtox brunch, every Saturday from 11am to 3pm priced at 149 AED. This Dtox Brunch is now also available at Al Bandar every Friday from 11am until 3pm. Let’s get straight to the point, this is a must-try that will even convince the cynics to join the healthy food movement!

Already familiar with Nolu’s both downtown and in Al Bandar, we were eager to experience this new healthy formula in town. Arriving at 11am sharp, we were surprised at how busy Nolu’s was – contrasting with the mall that had just peacefully awakened – with many families and friends enjoying breakfast or sipping a drink. We also noticed Nolu’s had settled a cosy indoor terrace overlooking the sea.

The decor inside perfectly matches with this healthy concept with white and green tones and a cosy and comfy atmosphere. A DJ is on board every Saturday which adds more fun to the overall relaxed vibe.

What’s the Dtox brunch about?

First, guests are invited to visit different stations, from the granola station, the cold presses juices, the salad bar and sweets. The Dtox brunch also includes a brunch entree to order at the table from a selection of seven appetizing dishes.

The granola and cold pressed juices station

If you’re into healthy drinks, there are different cold pressed juices to start with that are prepared with 100% organic fruits and vegetables. Give a try to the green purifier -kale, celery, apple, cucumber, pineapple, parsley and lemon – or the beet hearts that mixes beet, apple, chlorella, ginger, carrot and lemon. Nolu’s also proposes a kick starter called the Immunity elixir. Served in individual shots of 60ml, this boosting tonic juice is prepared with honey, orange, turmeric and ginger. Just delish!

Homemade granola, delicious plain yogurts coming from a French farm, fresh berries and many different glass jars filled with bee honey, spirulina, shredded coconut, loads of nuts and seeds, and more allow you to prepare your own bespoke granola bowl to start off your brunch.

The raw salad bar

Kale and cauliflower salads have been the latest trends these past months and if you are not convinced yet about their taste, we encourage you to pay a visit to the salad corner. We just adored their already prepared kale salad version mixed with mint, green onions, pomegranate seeds, red quinoa, chopped almonds and tomatoes. There is also an impressive variety of ingredients to personalize your salad bowl from roasted chickpeas, edamame, avocado, and many kinds of seeds and nuts.

The cauliflower salad was also a nice pick prepared with curry, dried cranberries, edamame, cumin seeds, almonds, radish and red onions. A guilt-free pleasure!

The main options

Whatever your taste is, Nolu’s has you covered proposing no less than 7 different mains to order at the table. We picked the Beef Fillet Benedict that was delicious, and came served on corn fritter with some red chili that kicked up the palate and some sauteed aragula. We also enjoyed the fried chicken with cheddar waffles.

The carnivores may also try the roast leg lamb that awaits visitors next to the granola station and is served with roasted vegetables.

The sweet corner

Probably our most prefered section, guests can choose between the non-guilty or guilty pleasures. While the guilty side is filled with tasty sweet delicacies such as cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate tart, banana bread that all feel homemade and flavorful, we love the non-guilty corner that was packed with homemade healthy bites.

From granola bars to matcha energy bites, gluten-free brownies, this corner is worth a try. Their goji berry truffles were definitely our favorite and we just hope that Nolu’s will soon sell some of these items in individual packs for take-away.

A winning formula that allows you to taste a large variety of healthy bites, salads, drinks and snacks without spending a fortune. A fair price indeed especially as the dishes are homemade, using fresh and healthy ingredients.
