Indulge and relax by the beach
Asia de Cuba, our favorite Chino-Latino restaurant and lounge has just relaunched their Friday Brunch and managed to surprise us… once again!
Go for the overall festive ambience
To make the best of your experience, make sure you book a cabana or an outdoor table to best enjoy the colorful beach lounge and the in-house live band “Cuba Libre” on the terrace. Sun, light breeze, views over the sea and the flavourful dishes brought to your table with homemade mojitos will add to a vibrant Friday.
The sharing-style concept
Spoiled with an extensive range of high-end brunches, Asia de Cuba proposes something slightly different that matches their concept: Asian and Cuban flavors served in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
So, from midday up to 4pm, guests can indulge on a four-course menu with a mix of Cuban dishes with an Asian flare.
Unfamiliar with this Cuban tradition, what caught first our attention is the surprising mix of sweet dishes throughout the menu and a recurring use of guava. For example, filled with cream cheese and guava puree, sweet Pastelitos come along with tapas and are a great addition. We also adored the Cuban toast served amongst the entrees; this crispy sweet brioche is rolled with flakes and almonds, topped with guava marmalade and served with an almond mascarpone aside. This one was simply amazing and is only available for brunch-goers!
The novelties this year
The live mojito bar is amongst the new additions this season with the team proposing you to experience a selection of housemade fruit purees – blackberry, raspberry, peach, passionfruit… – with fresh citrus and mint.
Every second Friday, Asia de Cuba will also host a salsa instructor and guests will have the chance to learn and experience dancing while brunching with the live band playing.
Salivating tapas and salads to kickstart your brunch
Tapas and salads come together and completely filled up the table. We best enjoyed the refreshing ceviche de pescado topped with red and green jalapenos and the black bean hummus served with plantain chips tostones. The regulars will be happy to get their Shrimp churros fix with the inimitable dip sauce that comes with it.
After the filling tapas start, make sure you taste each salad as they are all worth it. The thai basil, tofu cubes and edamame pair well with the black rice and grilled corn salad. We also enjoyed the icy hot shrimp salad and marinated watermelon cubes with soy. The creamy and sweet vinaigrette served with the roasted duck salad, Chinese cabbage, almonds and blood orange was a must.
Then come the mains…
Entrees come next and yet again fill up the whole table. Our favorites were the delectable Huevos Benedict prepared with shredded veal and a special hollandaise sauce and the marinated BBQ prawns with guava which were sweet and tender.
Carvinors will rejoice the homemade sausages, sambal BBQ octopus or the churrasco, a BBQ flank beef served with Thai chimichurri – a homemade paste with parsley, ginger and garlic.
End on a sweet note
Three signature desserts finish the meal with a sweet touch. Presented with a pineapple chip, the mango ice-cream with fresh fruits and coconut water is light and refreshing. The signature Thai coconut and lemongrass flan is there for those who haven’t experienced it yet while the chocolate addicts will still make room for the signature Tres Leches de Chocolate, a spongy chocolate cake that always surprises us with the Szechuan peppercorn ingredient paired with chocolate ice cream.
