Fill up your fridge with items from this Asian grocery store in Abu Dhabi

If there is one chore that can easily become boring for us, it has to be refilling the fridge and pantry.

So if like us, you are also looking to fill up your kitchen with more exotic groceries then K-Mart is a unique supermarket in Abu Dhabi, worth a visit.

What is K-mart? the only Korean supermarket branch in the Capital that makes the statement clearly on its door “KOREAN FOOD ONLY”.

Browsing the stalls, we were in awe of all the different types of food. The slight challenge is obviously that everything is written in Korean but hopefully the images help and most products have a tag with the English translation.

During our 30 minutes visit, we saw quite a lot of Asian customers coming in to pick up their favourite goodies.

We were highly impressed by the huge corner dedicated to frozen products with plenty of fish and seafood to choose from, such as mussels, calamari, octopus and much more.

This store reigns supreme in their selection of dried products used in Asian curries- dried sweet potato vines, dried bracken, dried taro stems, dried radish, but also plenty of dried noodles – made with black rice, buckwheat and even Colorella.

There is a wide stock of different types of seaweed algae sheets to prepare sushi at home and also the famous Sriracha spicy sauce often used in Japanese dishes.

We were surprised that the tea selection was not that wide. However, we did pick up the crust of overcooked rice tea that is said to have a nutty flavor and is apparently a must-try. If you are into tea and wish to discover new fragrances, try their Cassia seed tea, Korean Ginseng Tea or dried ground grain tea sold in powder.

At last, if you have been looking for a multi-roaster to prepare a Korean BBQ at home, look no further as they stock it.

Living in a city with that many nationalities has its advantages especially if you are a gourmet willing to discover the world from your doorstep.
