When tradition and modernity join for the best…
It has been two years now since Fairmont Bab Al Bahr launched Suhoor during Ramadan in a very exclusive and luxurious tent called ‘Al Andalus’.
Given the success this tent had these last two seasons, the hotel took into account the message visitors kept on telling them: ‘We want to enjoy our Iftar at The Andalus tent during Ramadan 2017’.
Here it is! We were lucky enough to visit the tent in avant-premiere and must admit the size and contemporary decor really is impressive.
What makes the Al Andalus tent stand out?
The size is an impressive 900 square meters, the view at night is fabulous with large bay windows overlooking Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Maqtaa Creek and enlightened palm trees. This modern Arabic tent has influences from Andalucía transporting guests to an architectural delight with themes and design from the Spanish and Islamic culture. We were in awe of the oversized coloured arch shaped glass window at the entrance of the tent.
The overall decor is sophisticated, the colour palette is full of rich turquoise and emerald green, complemented by a warm beige. Another highlight is the way guests are seated as there is majlis seating where families can enjoy their Iftar in a more intimate way.
For the very first time, the Iftar Buffet prepared by Cuiscene restaurant will be the centerpiece inside the tent.
Every night, Iftar guests will also dine with a live Oud player which adds something magical to this unique scenery.
Let’s move on to to the Iftar specialities
Head Chef Ayoub Makdissicame up with an Iftar with cuisines from all around the Middle East.
This includes hot and cold mezze, traditional Ouzi lamb carving, Samak Harra (spicy tahini fish), Dijaj Bil Laban (chicken with yogurt), Chicken Mossaka (chicken rolls) and Samak Saiadya (baked fish with rice).
